Microbial production of chemicals is a well-known alternative to classical chemical routes. At the same time, demands to make industrial production process „environment-friendly“are present, which gives a clear advantage to microbial production.

The accelerated depletion of fossil raw-materials fueled a strong interest in the optimization of biotechnological processes, especially those based on renewable carbon sources. Therefore, the development of eco-efficient microbial production strains emerges as a pressing issue for today´s societies.
